hi hi, it’s almost spring in the northern hemisphere despite everything. birds, buds etc somehow. I’ll have a longer post with writing soonish but I’m in the middle of damn I have three travel gigs in 10 days and a whole lot else, so I am busy busy, but wanted to let you know where you could find me. also we’re in a fascist coup and yet life keeps chugging along? which is surreal and the current real. I know you are in it too. but a few quick things in case you want to come see/ be around me:
If you are in or around Boston, I'm on a panel at the Museum of Science Friday with Allison Kafer and Hailee Yoshizaki-Gibbons, organized by Sylvie Rosenkalt, on Crip Time and Aging, 7 PM. Masks required, accessible, ASL and CART and virtual option. You can buy tickets here. I am juiced to be at the nerd museum we went on field trips to when I was a kid.
Infos:
"Join the Museum’s Center for Life Sciences for an evening of dialogue and convening focusing on the concept of “crip time” (the non-linear, flexible experience of time shaped by disability) and aging. This conversation will consider the concept of aging and the life course asking questions such as: what does it mean to age while disabled? How does disability prepare us for aging? How does disability disrupt expectations of aging? What about those who experience time differently?
An esteemed panel of voices across sectors will explore these questions and more during this special event, part of the Museum’s yearlong Being Human spotlight.Access Information: This event will have ASL interpretation and typewell live captioning. Seats will be reserved up front for those accessing interpretation/captions. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Masks are required by all in person attendees and will be provided at the entrance if needed.
Virtual livestream tickets now available! "

Then, finally, I’m speaking and reading with fellow Sri Lankan authors Indran Amirthanayagam, Sugi Ganeshananthan and Cheran Rudramoorthy at “Writing in Displacement” at Penn State April 4, 2025 . this is more “if you’re in the area, come”, masks required.
more soon, keep holding fast in the meantime.
Thank you, Leah! I just wanted to tell you that, when I was pregnant in 2022 and in a 9-month flare up of my ulcerative colitis, your books Care Work and the Future is Disabled are what got me through. So thank you. I hope the busy week goes well!
You are in the top five of my “it’s really interesting you say that, you might find this person’s writing (or podcast appearances) useful.” If you need to interrupt and bug out on wonder, watch this or the one on why bees are hairy.
